Why All Christians, Including Mormons, Should Vote for Trump

(I apologize that while writing this my auto correct was randomly working incorrectly, I’ve tried to catch any spelling errors, but as I do not have a professional editor, I pray you will grant me grace)



When we face trails as an individual, a household leader, a governor or nation, as Job did, we must turn toward God and his word for our hope. People don’t often think of concepts like nationalism, border control or immigration control when they read the scriptures. They mistakenly think God doesn’t care about these things- that He’s never given his children guidance on these issues. So when a presidential candidate like Donald Trump comes along Americans don’t see anything Christian about his main policies. 

Some voters may look to candidates who hold the Bible above their heads, wave it around and give grand speeches about their deep faith and assume they are the most Christian choices. However the most Christian choice isn’t the man of big talk but of action. When those same candidates professing to love the Bible are also found to be lying, repeatedly, which, I have to tell you, is one of Gods big 10 no-nos, you must assume that even though they boast of Christ, their actions do not match what Christ would have of us. 

God calls men who are not always what you think a man of God would look like. Paul was on the road to Damscis to persecute and kill Christians when God called him, and now, half of the New Testment comes from Paul. 
  

 
Do not be distracted by men proclaiming to be saints look towards those admitted sinners who are calling upon our nation to cleanse itsself of it’s sins in order to make us great again, because after all, isn’t that what true repentance does? It takes our sins away and makes us great again?

Job 23: 10-12 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Trump is accused of being blunt, direct, even harsh but God does not call us to sit on any fences but to take a firm stand against evil and to love good. 

Rev 3: 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

  
You cannot exist in the middle during a battle between good and evil! You cannot be tolerant of all things! For love to be real, to be sincere, you must also point out what is evil and abhor it! If your nation, if your culture, if your people are good, if you love them, cling to THEM, to YOUR people, and abhor that which would destroy or take them away!

Romans 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good


  

Secure your nation for its people 

There is nothing wrong with loving and securing your nation as it is, to want to keep your country for the children and grandchildren of those who built it! God himself created the nations on this earth and set the people in their own nations, with their own heritage and lineage.

Gen 10:32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

God expects us to protect those nations he has given us. Among the list of sins committed that created the conditions under which God allowed Nebuchadnezzar to capture the children of Israel was the sin of being lazy and having to bars or gates at their border!

Jeremiah 49: 30-31 Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the Lord; for  king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you.
Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the Lord, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.

Ezekiel cataloged the sins of the people of Judah in Jerusalem. He wrote that they would be scattered and destroyed for their iniquities, among the iniquities listed was the fact that God had called for a strong man to secure the border.

Ez 22: 30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.

God will not be mocked. If we do not arise and secure our borders we will reap the destruction which we have sewed.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

 

Our forefathers building this country for their children and grandchildren 

We are commanded by God to honor our father and mother that our days may be long in the land God has given us. Our father, grandfather, great grandfathers worked incredibly hard to build the country and the civilization we now enjoy and they did it for us, for their posterity. At no point did they create this amazing country of America to simply hand over to hordes of third world immigrants and watch their own family lines and heritage go extinct. We are not honoring them if we give away all they fought and died for! 

Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”

What world are you leaving to your children? Are you continuing to build up our strong country through firm Christian principles or are you allowing non-Christian, violent, third world immigrants to come in and out breed this nations founding population? God tells us that our children are a blessing, they are a heritage from the Lord himself! Having a quiver full of Christian children is the only way to have a nation of strong Christians that can stand at the gate of our enemies and show no shame in our mighty country!


Psalm 127:3-5 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

One of the most important responsibilities we are given as parents is to educate our children properly and the scriptures are not silent on this issue either, but with federal, government control of education it has become very hard to follow our scriptures when they tell us…

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Donald Trump wants to return education to the local level, to give parents and local communities control again by getting rid of communist propaganda like Common Core. He wants a voucher program where you, the parent, can choose which school, whether public, charter, private or homeschool to allow your children to attend. The schools would suddenly have to compete for your business and the market place would rapidly improve the educational system! Can you imagine all of the beautiful new Christian schools that will be built!?

Men, you cannot have a quiver full of well educated children without a beautiful, beloved wife and I know many of you reading this have such an amazing lady. You would never put her at risk because as the scriptures command you, you love your wife as though she were your own body. You would do anything to keep her safe. 

Ephesians 5:28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

But are you really keeping her safe if you allow hordes of violent third world immigrants into your nation? 

First, let’s look at Muslims. In America over the past 10-20 years we have seen Muslim immigration really amping up yet still the numbers are relatively low given the total US population, however Europe has taken in millions of Arab and Somali Muslims in the past decades and their experiences can show us what we are in for if we do the same.

In Cologne, Germany, New Years Eve 2016 over a thousand Muslim men organized what they call “taharrush,” an Arabic word for organized gang rape. The migrant men cornered 800 women trying to debark a train at the train station. Swarming them the migrants groped the women’s bodies, pulled off their clothes, and beat them. the men also inserted their fingers into the women’s  vagina’s, and some women were fully raped.  

This attack was not limited to Cologne nor is it limited to New Years Eve. Women in Europe can no longer walk the streets safely at night as Muslim immigrants commit sexual terrorism. Muslim immigrants in Europe are terrorizing public pools raping children and assaulting women. Children in England have been abused in massive Arab sex rings and Sweden, the most open to Muslims of all the European countries has seen its rape rate increase 1400%!

Only 1 in 5 of the migrants are actually Syrians, the rest are from surrounding Muslim countries 

ISIS claims it has smuggled thousands of terrorists in with the wave of migrants, and terrorists have been caught among the immigrants plotting attacks on England all the while living there with their families!!

Second generation Muslims in Europe do not assimilate and in fact are easy recruits for suicide bombings.

America has already totally lost the once Polish Catholic town of Hamtrak, Michigan to Muslims, the town is now majority Muslim.

In Minnesota the government just granted $300,000 to groups dedicated to helping Somali children not join radical terrorist organization, which is a very real problem in the once calm, serene, Minnesota now that it has accepted mass Somali immigration! 

America has taken in 3 million refugees and they are a tremendous drain on social welfare programs here in the US. 

The more Muslims we allow into America the more and more our towns and cities will begin to experience increased crime, rape, terrorism and murder.  How do you think Muslims will vote in local and federal elections? Will they be voting to continue the same country our ancestors created or will they try to remake it into a Muslim one?

Muslims aren’t the only concern however, America is already suffering under the weight of another type of immigration. Illegal Hispanic immigration costs the US tax payers $12,000,000,000 per year in just education costs for primary and secondary schooling. 7.7 million illegal workers are currently taking jobs Americans could be working. Mexican gangs have set up bases within the United States and Latino gangs account for the majority of our country’s most violent and dangerous gangs. Illegal drugs are pouring over our southern border at unimaginable and totally uncontrollable rates. 

Illegal aliens account for a whopping 30% of murders in most states in the US! In Texas alone ICE deports 2,000 illegal immigrant rapists per year! 

  
If you love your wife and daughters you must protect them from those who would harm them! As Ephesians tells us, we are commended to love our wives as we love our own bodies. Men you must guard them with your physical body but also in your policy making! This way we show our families the love and care God has shown us!

And God loves us so much, He really does, we have all felt God’s love in our lives. In the scriptures God’s love is described as a shelter, a fortress, a refuge in which we trust. Should we not also intrust our family and loved ones to an earthly refuge and fortress which will protect and shelter them? Do for your family and country what God does for us, be a fortress!


Psalm 91:1-16 
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, …

We are promised that if we are obedient to God’s commandments that He will set our nation high, above all other nations on earth! He will bless our cities, our work and our children. God does not expect all nations to be equal. The Lord has promised to raise up those nations faithful to his commands. It’s not our responsibility to try and lift other nations up through massive third world immigration into our country. 

Deuteronomy 28:1-6
“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. …

We Gentiles are God’s standard people! We need to set an example to other countries, not sacrifice our own.

Thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. Isaiah 49:22

We live in a day and age where we are seeing many schemes of the devil. The worst one I have witnessed in my lifetime has been the convincing of white, Christian, America that we are somehow guilty by birth for sins against humanity. We are told that because our ancestors worked hard, were smart, obeyed God and received his blessings that we have somehow unjustly stolen something that is not ours and we now “owe” it to third world people the world over to take care of them by importing them into our country and allowing them to replace our Christian culture. 
The Lord does not ask us to sit by passively and await our own destruction because of what our ancestors are precieved of having done. He tells us to put on the full armor of God against the schemes of the devil and to wrestle against those rulers and authorities of darkness. We must stand firm and resist the evil take over of our country!


Ephesians 6:10-20 
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, …


  

Friendly neighbors 

Usually at this point many will make the argument, but the Bible says to love thy neighbor!  Of course it does! But are you so fixated on the neighbor half way around the world that you have forgotten your actual neighbor living right next door? Have you forgotten that a demand to change the country’s demographics will affect him and his family too? Have you forgotten that he also has a wife and daughters he doesn’t want assaulted?  He has property he doesn’t want stolen or vandalized. He has a job he wants to keep and a wage he doesn’t want driven down by migrant workers. He has children and grandchildren and he wants them to have a safe future in our country. 

Matthew 22:36-39 
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.



As God has promised to save our children so should we think of our neighbor’s children. Donald Trump is often confronted on his immigration policy by people saying, “But what about the dreams of migrant children?” And Mr. Trump replies, “I want our children to dream again, because right now they’re not dreaming.” 

Isaiah 49:25 
For thus says the Lord: “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken, and the prey of the tyrant be rescued, for I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children.

As progressive college students, feminists with blue hair, black lives matter thugs, and communists waving their red flag march against Trump at his rallies remember these wise words. 

Genesis 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

Matthew 5:11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 

But what about other Christian issues especially abortion which Trump doesn’t feel as strong on? All conservative issues are important to Christians but we cannot solve issues like abortion or gay marriage before we solve immigration and let me tell you why. Immigrants in the US vote 8 out of 10 for the democrats. If we allow more immigration, if we grant amnesty to the 11 million estimated illegals here in the US the elections are over. We will never elect another conservative again. We will live in a democrat dictatorship, our votes will no longer be enough to sway any election. We will lose on all the other important issues like aboortion forever. We must hault our rapid, irreversible, cultural shift before we can take back things like rights for the unborn. 

Repentance, good works and grace is what will save America because it is only and ever through seizing those opportunities that God gives us, that we can be made again, in the image of our Savior, Jesus Christ and I leave you with this testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

The entire Book of Mormon chronicals the many times God’s people created a nation in the Americas only to fall into idilness regarding keeping their covenants with God and saw their nations destroyed by outside forces.

The duty of men to protect their wives and their children is a constant theme in the Book of Mormon. This theme becomes readily apparent to our current situation when we read Alma 48:24 beside this image…

   
 
The Lord designed the Nephites to be righteous men who protected their lands, their houses, their wives and their children. They desired to preserve them as well as their liberties from their enemies.

They knew that if their lands fell into the hands of those who did not follow the Lord, as Muslims do not, then the righteous, God worshipping, Nephites would be destroyed. 

Alma 43:9 And now the design of the Nephites was to support their lands, and their houses, and their wives, and their children, that they might preserve them from the hands of their enemies; and also that they might preserve their rights and their privileges, yea, and also their liberty, that they might worship God according to their desires.
10 For they knew that if they should fall into the hands of the Lamanites, that whosoever should worship God in spirit and in truth, the true and the living God, the Lamanites would destroy.

  
God exhorts us to be prepared as the Nephites were with strong armor (in today’s terms this would be a strong, well equipped, military). Trump is the candidate with the most robust plans to strengthen our military and also take care of our veterans.

Alma 43:19 And when the armies of the Lamanites saw that the people of Nephi, or that Moroni, had prepared his people with breastplates and with arm-shields, yea, and also shields to defend their heads, and also they were dressed with thick clothing– 20 Now the army of Zerahemnah was not prepared with any such thing; they had only their swords and their cimeters, their bows and their arrows, their stones and their slings; and they were naked, save it were a skin which was girded about their loins; yea, all were naked, save it were the Zoramites and the Amalekites; 21 But they were not armed with breastplates, nor shields–therefore, they were exceedingly afraid of the armies of the Nephites because of their armor, notwithstanding their number being so much greater than the Nephites.

Captain Moroni knew that it was the plan of these Lamanities to establish their own kingdom in the Nephite’s land. Radical Islamic clerics have already created lists of what they will make illegal once they gain control of the US as they plan to. Muslims have already tried to establish Sharia law in Alabama. The Nephites knew they needed a strategy to defend their church! 

Alma43:29 And now, as Moroni knew the intention of the Lamanites, that it was their intention to destroy their brethren, or to subject them and bring them into bondage that they might establish a kingdom unto themselves over all the land;
30 And he also knowing that it was the only desire of the Nephites to preserve their lands, and their liberty, and their church, therefore he thought it no sin that he should defend them by stratagem; 

A vote for Trump isn’t about the man Donald Trump, it’s about making all of America great again. Have you noticed how Trump’s slogan focuses on America, the home of our liberties, our wives, our children and our rites of worship? Yet Cruz’s slogan, Cruz to Victory, focuses not only on himself but on a dominant position for himself? God does not expect us to sit by and allow ourselves and our country to be slain by our enemies and he calls us to defend it, even unto bloodshed.

Alma43:45 Nevertheless, the Nephites were inspired by a better cause, for they were not fighting for monarchy nor power but they were fighting for their homes and their liberties, their wives and their children, and their all, yea, for their rites of worship and their church.
46 And they were doing that which they felt was the duty which they owed to their God; for the Lord had said unto them, and also unto their fathers, that: Inasmuch as ye are not guilty of the first offense, neither the second, ye shall not suffer yourselves to be slain by the hands of your enemies.
47 And again, the Lord has said that: Ye shall defend your families even unto bloodshed. Therefore for this cause were the Nephites contending with the Lamanites, to defend themselves, and their families, and their lands, their country, and their rights, and their religion.

Some members of the LDS church mistakenly think that America is a gathering place to build Zion, that we will somehow convert the immigrants coming across the border to the Gosepl and thereby save souls and usher in the kingdom of God but we have actually been counseled that each Saint is to stay in their own land and build the kingdom of Zion there. 

Think about it, even if all the immigrants we received into the US were the cream of the crop, the very best Mexico, Somali, Iraq and other countries had to offer is it truly moral to take the doctors, scientists, artist, creators and innovators from these poor countries and leave them with no way to ever build things up for themselves or gain self reliance? 

  

2 Nephi 1:11 tells us that when the people of our nation don’t harken to the commandments that God will take away this precious land of promise and that he will do so by allowing other nations to come in, conquer and scatter us. 

  
As LDS we know that the constitution of the audited States is a divinely inspired document and one of the freedoms that we have in our country, that no other Western nation enjoys, is total freedom of speech, however, when Trump and his supporters had their first admendment rights violated in Chicago, neither Cruz, Rubio nor Kaisch stood up for the rights of good, hard working Americans to peaceably assemble. Instead they blamed Trump’s words the way someone might blame a rape victim for their short skirt. 

In a moment of truth, when violent thugs were shooting off machine guns, blocking ambulances, bloodying police officers and threatening to rape Trump supporters because they were “racist, white, b*tches” all the other canidates threw our constitution under the bus for a personal grudge against the front runner and his loyal followers.

Trump is endorsed by many faithful LDS leaders and Utah politicians, from the Salt Lake Tribune..

“Donald Trump supporters launched his Utah campaign on Monday — with some well-known legislators, business leaders and longtime political activists heading his state committee. ‘I really believe it’s an opportunity to have a Reagan kind of administration that can come in and make America great again,’ said Utah Senate Majority Leader Ralph Okerlund, R-Monroe. Stuart Adams, R-Layton; Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce President Stan Parrish; Donald Peay, founder of Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife; and historian and activist Ron Fox, who was George W. Bush’s Utah campaign director. Some other names of note on Trump’s Utah committee are state Sen. David Hinkins, R-Orangeville; Sen. Kevin Van Tassell, R-Vernal; Beaver County Commissioner Mark Whitney; Tracy Rawle, head of the Check City payday loan company; and retired four-star Air Force Gen. Robert Oaks, an emeritus LDS general authority, who served in the faith’s Presidency of the Seventy.”

This is the moment when we must all stop and ask ourselves, have we truly and dilegently studied the scriptures to gain wisdom of whom we should vote for this election or have we slackened that responsibility in favor of allowing talk show hosts, news reports or friends to influence our choice?

1 Nephi 16:2 And it came to pass that I beheld my brethren, and they were disputing one with another concerning the things which my father had spoken unto them. 3 For he truly spake many great things unto them, which were hard to be understood, save a man should inquire of the Lord; and they being hard in their hearts, therefore they did not look unto the Lord as they ought. 4 And now I, Nephi, was grieved because of the hardness of their hearts, and also, because of the things which I had seen, and knew they must unavoidably come to pass because of the great wickedness of the children of men.

Nephi 16:2 And it came to pass that I said unto them that I knew that I had spoken hard things against the wicked, according to the truth; and the righteous have I justified, and testified that they should be lifted up at the last day; wherefore, the guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center.3 And now my brethren, if ye were righteous and were willing to hearken to the truth, and give heed unto it, that ye might walk uprightly before God, then ye would not murmur because of the truth, and say: Thou speakest hard things against us.4 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did exhort my brethren, with all diligence, to keep the commandments of the Lord.5 And it came to pass that they did humble themselves before the Lord; insomuch that I had joy and great hopes of them, that they would walk in the paths of righteousness.


**** Added note: 

Some LDS members are under the false impression that the Church’s press release on immirgration was somehow a condemnation of Trump. It was not. It was a press release which added the historical context of the immigration policies of early LDS communities to our national discourse. Nothing in the church’s immigration policy contradicts Trump’s policies. A church PR statement also does not trump scripture and all the references I have given here are scripture and doctrine.

Some also mistakenly think I am not LDS myself. I am. I converted nearly 10 years ago when I did my Master’s degree thesis on the Church. I’m not only a member but I am an academic theology scholar and Mormon apologist who has presented at Sunstone Symposium.

  3. Re: “Love thy neighbor.” Who is my neighbor? If you dig a little deeper into that scriptural reference you will find it directly refutes the point you are trying to make. Was Jesus trying to tell us we should only love our next-door neighbors who share our religious and ethnic backgrounds, or could his lessons about Jews and Samaritans apply to Christians and Muslims?

    • Christ never told us to love our neighbor to the point of allowing ourselves to be harmed. I’ve given numerous examples of scriptures saying that God expects us to protect and defend those we love from danger. Does love thy neighbor extend to Nazis? Should we not have fought WWII? We are being invaded, this is war.

      • Actually, you are wrong. Christ told his followers to “turn the other cheek.”

        That is *exactly* telling his followers to love their neighbors to the point of allowing themselves to be harmed.

        Now, I agree with the premise the defending ourselves from those who would harm us is a good thing, but that isn’t what Trump is suggesting. Trump has suggested (and boldly so) that we should “go after their families.” This is a war crime.

        Trump has suggested being violent to peaceful protesters. Jesus was a peaceful protester. Trump would be right there along with the scribes and Pharisees, calling for Jesus to be crucified. Actually, he would be the first one to make the suggestion.

        Jesus preached among the outcast. He told stories of the good Samaritan. Samaritans were a culture despised by the Jews. He told this story to help outline the hypocrisy of the way they ran their religion.

        You claim there is danger from the Muslim immigrants. What percentage of Muslim immigrants are dangerous? What facts do you have to back this up? ISIS claims are not facts. They are closer to the opposite of facts. Would you lock up 1000 innocent people so 1 guilty man can’t roam free?

        Do you believe your life is more important than a Muslim person? Do you believe that God thinks your life is more important than a Muslim person’s life?

        I understand from your replies to other comments that you will never change your mind on this subject. You have cherry-picked scripture and doctrine and twisted them to fit your personal opinion, which is as good as saying you will never change. This is sad to me. You deserve more than this.       • Christ said he came not to bring peace but the sword. Trump has not called for violence against peaceful protestors, he’s called for fighting back against *violent* protestors. My life is not more valuable than a Muslim but God does not call us to sacrifice ourselves or our families to outside invaders, in fact he calls us numerous times, as I have cited, to defend and protect ourselves against those who would harm us. Do you know anyone living in Europe right now? The women cannot go out at night anymore, they fear for their lives. Children are being raped in public pools and now Germany must segregate their swimming pools. It’s sick. God does not expect us lay down and allow our children to be raped, in fact he calls us to defend our families. Be a real Christian man and defend your family!

        Yes, mass Muslim immigration is a clear danger to not just this country, but, as is becoming crystal clear, Europe as well. It is irrelevant whether 1 in hundred is a terrorist murder or 1 in a thousand. They have made their own countries hell-holes and now want to come here to do the same. They are not entitled to be here and, should we choose, we can provide aid and Christian comfort to them elsewhere, just not here. Let their coreligionists take them in. Oh, wait, Muslim countries won’t have them because of the terrorism risk.

(Although now that you brought it up, we could spend some time talking about similarities between Hitler and Trump.) Anyway, protecting one’s family from imminent physical danger is different than trying to expel a large swath of people based on their religion. Trump’s (and your) arguments there could have been used to expel the Mormons who were “invading” Missouri and Illinois.

I am a member and embarassed by this post. Christ was a Jewish socialist. And would despise any and all of this rhetoric. Muslims and Mexicans are great people. Try talking to one of them some time.

  5. There are many reasons that Christians shouldn’t vote for Trump. But for us Mormons, it is a very simple matter. Remember that the Church immediately denounced Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims, correctly calling it a violation of religious freedom. When the First Presidency condemns one of a candidate’s central proposals, that should end the discussion among faithful Mormons.
    On another note, why do you seem to think that the United States peaked in the 1950s? Read a little history, and have a little compassion for non-white people.

    • The church did not denounce Trump’s specific immigration plan they only referenced the immigration allowances for the early Latter Day Saint community. Nothing in the church’s immigration policy contradicts Trump’s proposed policy. Also a church PR statement does not trump scripture and doctrine and what I have given here is strictly doctrine, no a press release. Assuming I have no non-white friends is ridiculous and your logical fallacy is called “anecdotal.” That fallacy is getting people like Kate Steinly killed.

  6. I am Mormon and disagree strongly with your position. I don’t feel that your application of these scriptures fits with the central tenets of a truly Christian practice (I feel it is rare to see Christ’s teachings well applied so this is not new). From the perspective of “otherness” I am led to think of the people not included in your photos because they were not allowed, they were considered inferior, drains on society, “dirty,” accused just for their skin color or ethnicity. I know you don’t address racism directly for much of your post, but that is all I could think about when reading it.

    In short, I do not agree.

  7. I agree with the premise the defending ourselves from those who would harm us is a good thing, but that isn’t what Trump is suggesting. Trump has suggested (and boldly so) that we should “go after their families.” This is a war crime.

    Trump has suggested being violent to peaceful protesters. Jesus was a peaceful protester. Trump would be right there along with the scribes and Pharisees, calling for Jesus to be crucified. Actually, he would be the first one to make the suggestion.

    Jesus preached among the outcast. He told stories of the good Samaritan. Samaritans were a culture despised by the Jews. He told this story to help outline the hypocrisy of the way they ran their religion.

    You claim there is danger from the Muslim immigrants. What percentage of Muslim immigrants are dangerous? What facts do you have to back this up? ISIS claims are not facts. They are closer to the opposite of facts. Would you lock up 1000 innocent people so 1 guilty man can’t roam free?

    Do you believe your life is more important than a Muslim person? Do you believe that God thinks your life is more important than a Muslim person’s life?

    I understand from your replies to other comments that you will never change your mind on this subject. You have cherry-picked scripture and doctrine and twisted them to fit your personal opinion, which is as good as saying you will never change. This is sad to me. You deserve more than this. You deserve more than to live in fear and hatred of a religion and race that you don’t understand. You deserve more than to join the call for warmongering and bloodthirst.

During the 30’s, when people were campaigning to end prohibition, there was pretty much a tie, with half the states voting for it and the other half against. utah was one of the last states to vote, and just like always, the church did not tell people what to vote for. So utah voted to end prohibition, and reintroduce unlimited legal alcohol sales to the country, which we all know has had such a positive and welcome effect on socriety. No more broken homes, abused children, or spouses, or poverty caused by unhealthy sobriety! Yay. Nope, alcoholism was given free reign, and those who made their living off of the destruction of the most vulnerable became fabulously wealthy. The prophet, at the time, lamented the end of prohibition, and was especially censorious of the mostly Mormon population of utah for not caring enough about what they ‘believed’ or about the future of the country, to allow the return of something so detrimental to society. But utah members didn’t want to impose their standards on everybody else, so they ruined it for all them. Anybody who actually watches and listens to trump knows that he does not say half of the inflammatory things he is accused of. But most are too ‘lazy’? to take the time to do that, they just listen to the manipulated sound bites to do their ‘research’, it seems. So, according to recent polls, utah will once again lead the way for the downfall of the country. I am not from utah, or even the states, but I currently live in a largely lds area, and the lack-of-enthusiasm-for-the-meat-of the gospel of members-in-large-numbers is mind boggling. In places where your child is the only member of the church in their school, or entire town, there is much less complacency. When people routinely drive 1/2 an hour to sacrament meeting, or early morning seminary, and an hour or two to stake conferences, going the extra mile becomes literally, and figuratively, a way of life for them. But where the church is ‘strong’ many people become like the nephites on their downward swing. They just don’t want to care enough to do anything that requires real courage or effort. Yup, that’s insulting, but that doesn’t mean it’s untrue.

  10. I’m curious as to your thoughts on Standing Rock, where a group of original land owners are trying to protect their families and land.
    Also, where do you stand on LDS doctrine change refuting the previous beliefs that blacks were cursed and disfavored by Heavenly Father?

    • I supported Standing Rock until the protestors got violent, shot at cops and vandalized a graveyard and I learned all their reasonable demands had been met a long time ago (the pipeline already moved, new water shed built, etc)

      The LDS church never taught that blacks were disfavored by God, only that they were temporarily not to have the priesthood.
